Veterans can receive hospice care through Medicare, the VA, or both. Good veteran hospice care recognizes military experiences, such as combat trauma or exposures, that can shape comfort at the end of life.
How coverage works for veterans
Veterans enrolled in VA health care can receive hospice through the VA. Veterans with Medicare can also use the Medicare hospice benefit. A hospice social worker can help families understand which option fits best.
